SEE FAILURE MEETS FAME SATURDAY AT THE GARAGE.

THE GARAGE: Name, instrument?

James: Hey, I’m James Benincasa I lead sing and play guitar.

Jace: I’m Jace Orak I make jokes and, oh yeah I play lead guitar too.

Jon: I’m Jon Brenner and I play drums.

Garth: I’m Garth Calkwood and I play the Bass.

THE GARAGE: First of all, tell the people: What’s your brand of music and who are the artists that influence Failure Meets Fame?

FMF: We are a pop punk band with members from around the Twin Cities. We like local bands Love Out Loud and Life Like Sound. Our main influences as a band are All Time Low, Blink 182, Sleeping with Sirens, Foo Fighters, Alesana, Mayday Parade and Green Day.

THE GARAGE: What should the audience expect from your performance this weekend at THE GARAGE? And is there a particular song you’re most excited to play? Why?

FMF: At a Failure Meets Fame show you should expect high energy and killer stage presence. You’ll never see anyone sitting still while we’re on stage. We are super excited about this Saturday because we will be releasing 3 new songs that will be on our First E.P called First Impressions.

THE GARAGE: What makes a song good? What song do you consider perfect or which one comes closest?

FMF: We think there are 2 things that make songs good. 1. Lyric wise it has to be meaningful, the best songs written are ones people can relate too. 2. It has to be catchy and dancy. We try to make our songs with a rhythm that you have to move to.

THE GARAGE: What do your practices look like?

FMF: At a Failure Meets Fame band practice you will see a lot of hard work and long hours of going over songs and any little mistakes along the way. Garth usually takes a break by sitting down and petting James’s cat for a few minutes while the rest of us make joke about each other like good friends do.

THE GARAGE: Excluding THE GARAGE, what’s your favorite venue? Why?

FMF: Our favorite venue to play at so far is Casa Bistro. It’s our favorite venue because we host the Sunday teen band night and play every Sunday.

THE GARAGE: This is a different direction, but is there a piece of technology that’s indispensable to you (aside from the obvious, like mics, amps, etc.)?

FMF: From shows to equipment we are so fortune with the technology now in days. Being about to self-record at home with quality recording equipment is very nice. We also all use wireless guitar systems to make the show as eventful as possible. Being this fortunate with the equipment has helped us in so many ways.

THE GARAGE: What are you listening to right now?

FMF: What songs are we listening to on our iPods right now? Jace has really started to get into Hawthorne heights and his favorite song at the moment is Dissolve and Decay. James has really gotten into Sleeping with Sirens and loves the song If You Can’t Hang. Jon has been sticking to good old Nirvana and Foo Fighters with his favorite song Aurora, and Garth loves a vast variety of music, but at the moment his favorite song is To Move on is to Grow by We Came as Romans.

THE GARAGE: Do you have any advice for a fan who wants to start a band?

FMF: As a band we all agree the most important thing to do in a band is practice and follow your dreams and no matter what happens, never give up. Thank you we are excited for Friday and we can’t wait to meet you all and hang out after the show!
